Edward E Vassallo is involved in all aspects of patent, trade mark and unfair competition litigation, including trials and appeals in the chemical, mechanical and computer fields, and in oppositions, licensing and opinion work, for clients including Phillips-Van Heusen, Calvin Klein, Johnson Outdoors, SC Johnson & Son, Electrolux, Dreyfus, Revlon, Exxon and IBM. He also has had extensive experience advising clients regarding the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He is past president of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
Ed is listed in the International Who's Who of Trademark Lawyers, was named by Legal Media Group as one of the world's leading trade mark law and patent law practitioners, and was selected as a top intellectual property law practitioner in every edition of Best Lawyers in America from 2003-2012. He was named as a top New York Intellectual Property Litigator in the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 issues of New York Super Lawyers Metro Edition, and was recognised in the 2011 edition of PLC Which Lawyer.
He has been a guest lecturer on intellectual property law at Fordham Law School, Practicing Law Institute, American Intellectual Property Law Association, International Trademark Association, New York City Bar Association, The Federal Circuit Bar Association and American Conference Institute.
Ed holds a JD (cum laude) from Fordham University (1973), and a BS and MA in mechanical engineering from Columbia University (1965 and 1967). He is admitted to practise in the State of New York (1974) and before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal, Second and Third Circuits; US District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; US District Court for the Western District of Michigan; and the US Patent and Trademark Office.
He is a member of the American Bar Association; New York Intellectual Property Law Association (past president); Association of the Bar of the City of New York; and Federal Circuit Bar Association.
